Why Abstract Art is My Favourite Form of Art

There are many forms of art and while I like many of them and respect any form of artistic expression in general (whether it was created for joy, for raising awareness or opening a discussion), there is one that fascinates me just as much to have a strong desire to create it myself. Abstract art.

SO WHY, ANASTASIA, ABSTRACT ART?

This question made me think and it took me a while to find the answer as a lot of times we find ourselves liking something without realising the reason. You simply fall in love and not even sure why. And I wasn’t sure why I like abstract art too.

But I came up with several ideas and while I am sure I might come to different conclusions later, for now here are some of my thoughts.

FREEDOM AND PLAY

First of all, abstract art for me is a form of freedom and play. I am obsessed with playing with different colours and shades, the flow of the paint, shapes, and lines, and the mood that can be achieved with different techniques and mediums.

THE WAY TO EXPRESS FEELINGS, EMOTION, MOOD AND QUALITIES

Secondly, abstract art is a way to express my feelings, emotions, and mood. Again, I am able to translate all of that by selecting colours, techniques, textures, and mediums. And the beautiful part is that other people might resonate with my art, they can feel the same or different kind of emotions and feelings. In my particular case, those are the words I have in mind that I like translating to my art: joyful, soothing, dreamy, expressionist, emotional, stylish, young, bliss, elegant, sophisticated, modern, bold, calm, edgy, sublime, classy, deep, moody, serenity, successful, wonder, poetic, luxurious, glamorous, thoughtful. As you can see, a very diverse set of feelings, emotions, and qualities to express and there is a lot of room for experiments within my creative work!

PERFECT ADDITION TO INTERIORS AND LIFE

I like dreaming, having blurred images and stories in my head that are somewhere further away from our grounded life. And then all of that translates to the visual form. In a form of abstraction, where you can’t really tell what are the objects and story behind it.

I find it very interesting and relaxing to observe different kinds of abstract art in interiors. Because your mind is wondering, dreaming, and enjoying the emotions that it is getting from observing the piece. It evokes imagination and you can even find your own meaning in the abstract art piece. Some people like finding similarities of abstract forms, lines, and colours to real objects (I think it is because as our minds often seek for similarities).

Moreover, abstract piece oftentimes can be a perfect addition to the modern stylish interior as for me interiors are often abstract themselves - they consist of different lines, shapes, colours, objects and abstract art can fit perfectly as it can be a logical continuation of the interior design.

And why do you personally love abstract art? Please let me know in the comments below!
